Poster exhibition
Selected posters will be displayed during the poster exhibition sessions, arranged by their respective topics. The date and exact time of each poster session will be notified following acceptance.
Invitation Letter
If requested by the participants, an official invitation letter will be sent by the Congress Secretariat. Such solicited invitations, however, will not offer any payment of expenses, such as fees, travel or hotel accommodation for the Congress.
How To Get There
Bucharest offers easy air connections to hundreds of cities around the world (direct connections from lots of European cities). The major Henri Coanda Otopeni International Airport is situated on Bucuresti - Ploiesti DN1 Highway, in the northern part of the city at 15 km away from Congress Venue area.
The transfer from Henri Coanda Otopeni International Airport to the city will be provided:
- For the participants booked at Best Western Parc Hotel by Shuttle bus, during the week. Saturday and Sunday for this transfer the hotel will require 12 Euro . The payment will be added to the hotel bill. It must take into consideration that the same transfer by private taxi is more expensive.
- For the participants booked in the University Campus by Private Transfers offered by the organizer.
Public Transportation
Relatively safe and efficient, Bucharest’s public transport system covers the entire city with buses, tramways, trolleys and metro (subway) services, operating from 5 a.m. to midnight. Tickets and magneting cards can be bought at RATB kiosks, located on the main thoroughfares in the city, for ground transportation, and in every Metro station for the underground network.
Bus, Tram, Trolleys - LEI 1,30 per ticket, LEI 5,00 for one - day pass, LEI 50,00 for a mountly pass.
EXPRESS buses use a magnetic card.
Metro- LEI 2,20 for one two-fare pass, LEI 7,00 for ten fare-pass, LEI 20,00- for a mounthly passcard.
Visas
E.U and American citizens with a valid passport can visit for 90 days no visa requirement. All other visitors will need a visa. Visas should be obtained prior to the arrival, from Romanian Diplomatic Missions’ Offices in your country. A list of the nations for which a Romanian visa is required can be found at www.mae.ro.
Climate
Romania has a temperate-continental climate of transitional type, specific to Central Europe. In Bucharest the weather during June is predominantly dry and sunny, with temperatures ranging between 22°C /27°C during the day and 18°C / 20°C at night.
Insurances
The congress fee does not include insurance. All participants should arrange for their own insurance in their country of origin.
Electrical Appliances
The electrical supply is 220 volts, 50Hz. The connection for appliances is European plug (2 pin plug). Visitors who have flat 3-pin or other plugs, are advised to bring an appropriate adaptor or check availability with their hotel in advance.
Currency
The monetary unit is "LEU", which comes in bank notes of 5; 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, and coins of 1, 5, 10, 50 "BANI". At present, the exchange rate is 1 Euro ~ 3,8 Lei. Facilities for exchange of currency are available at the airport, hotels, banks and exchange offices. Banks are open weekdays from 8.30 to 18.00.
Credit Cards
Visa and Master Card are widely accepted at hotels, stores, shops and restaurants.
Social Program
- Welcome reception, 7th June, 2008, is included in the Registration Fee. It will be held in the Congress Venue area.
- Social Dinner, 9th June, 2008 is optional.
It will be held in the newly opened Casa Doina Parc Hotel Restaurant which will provide you the perfect mix of Romanian cuisine, traditional ambiance with modern elements and live folkloric music and dance. Its garden is the perfect place to spend a very nice evening. The price is: 50 Euro
The Organizing Committee is trying to organize:
- Bucharest city-tour on Sunday, 8th June, 2008 (included in the Registration Fee).
- Post meeting full day trip (8.00-20.00) to Sinaia and Bran (visit to Peles and Dracula castles with guide and lunch) on Wednesday 11th June, 2008.
The price will be 40 Euro no more. The Organizing Committee will try to support a part of the trip-expenses for all participants and accompanying persons who will remain in Romania after meeting.
